Darius Miles

Darius LaVar Miles (born October 9, 1981) is an American professional basketball player.

The 6 ft 9 in (2.06 m), 235 lb (107 kg; 16.8 st) small forward was selected directly out of high school by the Los Angeles Clippers with the 3rd overall pick in the 2000 NBA Draft. He was a First Team NBA All-Rookie in 2001, a first for a prep-to-pro player.

Miles playing career nearly came to an end when he was released by the Portland Trail Blazers in April 2008 after two years away from the court following microfracture surgery on his right knee. While he rebounded by joining the Boston Celtics for the 2008–2009 pre-season, his regular season debut with the Grizzlies was postponed for ten games while he sat out a league-mandated suspension for violating its substance abuse policy.

Miles was born in Belleville, Illinois and attended East St. Louis High School in East St. Louis, Illinois.
Miles entered the 2000 NBA Draft and was selected by the Los Angeles Clippers as the third overall pick, at the time the highest a player had been drafted directly from high school. He played his first two seasons with the Clippers, earning an NBA All-Rookie Team first team honor in 2001.

Following the 2001–2002 season he was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he spent a season and a half before being traded to the Portland Trail Blazers midway through the 2003–04 season. 

WGC-Bridgestone Invitational

The WGC-Bridgestone Invitational is one of the annual World Golf Championships for male professional golfers. It is sanctioned and organized by the International Federation of PGA Tours and the prize money is official money on both the PGA Tour and the PGA European Tour. The event, sponsored by NEC through 2005 and known as the WGC-NEC Invitational, was established in 1999 as a successor to the World Series of Golf, which was also sponsored by NEC.

The tournament changed sponsorship in 2006, with Bridgestone taking over from NEC as title sponsor. As a part of the original five-year sponsorship agreement, the event continues to be held at its traditional site of the Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio; the sponsorship has now been extended to 2014.

Up until 1998, there was a tournament called the World Series of Golf, which was also played at Firestone Country Club for many years, and sponsored by NEC. It was founded as a four man invitational event in 1962, but later became a PGA Tour event, and eventually one of the leading events on the Tour. For many years a victory in the World Series of Golf gave a golfer a 10-year exemption on the Tour, which was the same as was granted for a victory in a major championship at that time, and twice as long as is given even for winning a major now. The field consisted of the winners of all the high status men's professional golf tournaments around the world in the previous twelve months. This was quite different from the criteria for the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational listed above, but produced much the same sort of global field. 

Mosi Tatupu

Mosiula Faasuka Tatupu (April 26, 1955 – February 23, 2010) was a National Football League special teamer and running back who during a fifteen year professional career played for the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams. His tenure with the Patriots lasted from 1978 to 1990. He made the Pro Bowl in 1986.
Tatupu was a standout player at Punahou School where he set many Hawaii state rushing records.He graduated in 1974

Tatupu attended the University of Southern California, playing in the 1978 Hula Bowl and finished his career with 223 rushing attempts for 1277 yards (5.73 yards per attempt avg.). The Mosi Tatupu Award, given annually to the College Football Special Teams Player of the Year by the Maui Quarterback Club and the Hula Bowl, bears his name.

Drafted in 1978 by the New England Patriots (8th round, 215th overall), Tatupu played fullback and became an ace on special teams. He rushed the ball 612 times for 2,415 yards and 18 touchdowns; in the 1983 season he led the league with 5.5 rushing yards per attempt. He caught 96 passes for 843 yards and two touchdowns, against the Colts in 1981 and the Falcons in 1983. His season high for rushing yards came in 1983 with 578 rushing yards and four touchdowns, while in 1984 he set a personal best with 16 catches for 159 yards. In 1987 against the Raiders Tatupu threw a 15-yard touchdown to Tony Collins.

He was used mostly on special teams kick coverage. He did have seven kick returns for 56 yards in his career.

Lofa Tatupu

Mosiula Mea'alofa Tatupu (born November 15, 1982) is an American football linebacker who is currently a free agent. He was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the second round of the 2005 NFL Draft. He played college football for Southern California.

Tatupu played quarterback and linebacker in high school, graduating in 2001 from King Philip Regional High School in Wrentham, Massachusetts.

Tatupu spent his freshman year of college at the University of Maine before transferring to the University of Southern California (USC).

He was an All-American for the USC Trojans where he wore the number 58, which was also worn by another USC linebacker of Samoan heritage, Rey Maualuga.

Tatupu played for the USC Trojan football team (2005-2006 seasons) within the player development program managed by Head Coach Pete Carroll and Assistant Head Coach for Defense and Linebacker Coach Ken Norton Jr. The USC linebacker system ("USC Linebacker U") has developed many NFL stars, including three-season All-American and NFL player Richard Wood (the "Batman"), linebacker legend Junior Seau, player and NFL coach Jack Del Rio, Willie McGinest, Chris Claiborne, Tatupu, Keith Rivers, and Norton proteges of the future, the class of 2009: teammates Brian Cushing, Kaluka Maiava, Clay Matthews III, and Rey Maualuga, often touted as the most talented linebacker corps in college football.

Tatupu started 25 games during his two years for the Trojans. He finished his USC career with 202 tackles, nine sacks, seven interceptions, three fumble recoveries, three forced fumbles, 18 pass deflections, and one touchdown.

Sean Aver

Sean Christopher Avery (born April 10, 1980) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player for the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League (NHL). He formerly played for the Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Kings and Dallas Stars. Prior to the NHL, Avery played for the Owen Sound Platers and the Kingston Frontenacs of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).

Avery was not drafted but instead signed by the Red Wings as a free agent in 1999. He played one final season in junior before turning professional in 2000 in the American Hockey League (AHL). He broke into the NHL in the 2001–02 season, playing 36 games with the Red Wings. The Red Wings went on to win the Stanley Cup that season, but Avery did not play in the playoffs nor did he play the required 40 games to get his name engraved on the Cup.

Midway through the 2002–03 season, Avery was traded to the Los Angeles Kings in the trade for defenseman Mathieu Schneider. Avery finished the season with 15 points in 51 games. Years later, Red Wings general manager Ken Holland said that one reason he unloaded Avery was because he seemed to lack respect for the game.

Bubba Smith

Charles Aaron "Bubba" Smith (February 28, 1945 – August 3, 2011) was an American actor and athlete. He was a professional football player in the 1960s and 1970s who became an actor in the late 1970s. He was well known for his height of 6 ft 7 in (2 m).

Smith played college football at Michigan State University. He was awarded with All-America honors in 1965 and 1966. In his senior season, he played in the "Game of the Century" (a 10–10 tie at home against the University of Notre Dame). Michigan State finished 2nd in the voting for the National Championship, behind Notre Dame. In 1988, Smith was enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame.

Smith was a popular athlete at Michigan State, with the popular fan chant of "Kill, Bubba, Kill."

Michigan State retired his number 95 jersey on September 23, 2006, prior to the Spartans' home game against Notre Dame, amid repeated cheers of his old slogan from the student section. This game also celebrated the 40th anniversary of the "Game of the Century."

Smith spent nine seasons in the NFL as a defensive end. He was the first overall selection in the 1967 NFL draft, chosen by the Baltimore Colts. The Colts won Super Bowl V at the end of the 1970 season, earning Smith his only Super Bowl ring. However, in interviews, Smith stated that he would never wear the ring, as it was seen as a "sloppy" game by many. He was traded to the Oakland Raiders before the 1972 season, and finished his career with the Houston Oilers. He was selected All-Pro one year, All-Conference two years, and went to two Pro Bowls.             

Zara Phillips

Zara Anne Elizabeth Phillips, MBE (born 15 May 1981) is the second child and only daughter of Princess Anne and her first husband Captain Mark Phillips and is thirteenth in the line of succession to the throne. She is married to England rugby union player Mike Tindall, but has elected to keep her maiden name for professional and sponsors, referring to herself otherwise as "Mrs Tindall".

An equestrienne, Phillips is the former Eventing World Champion, who won the World Championship in Aachen and was voted 2006 BBC Sports Personality of the Year by the British viewing public (an award her mother won in 1971). She was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2007 New Year's Honours List for her services to equestrianism.

She is the eldest granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. At the time of her birth she was sixth in line to succeed her grandmother, the Queen. As of the birth of her niece Savannah Phillips in 2010, she is 13th in the line of succession to the thrones of 16 independent countries.

She has an older brother, Peter Phillips, born 15 November 1977, and two half-sisters, Felicity Tonkin, born in 1985 to her father by his brief affair with Heather Tonkin, and Stephanie Phillips, born 2 October 1997 from her father's second marriage to Sandy Pflueger.

At the request of their mother, the children of the Princess Royal do not hold any royal or noble title, nor are they automatically entitled to royal status by right of birth, as they are the grandchildren of a monarch in the female line.

Randy Moss

Randy Gene Moss (born February 13, 1977) is a former American football wide receiver. He was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the first round of the 1998 NFL Draft. He played college football at Marshall University for the Thundering Herd in Huntington, West Virginia.

Moss played the first seven years of his career in Minnesota before a trade in 2005 brought him to the Oakland Raiders. On April 29, 2007, Moss was traded to the New England Patriots for a fourth-round draft pick. On October 6, 2010, Moss returned to the Vikings in a trade from the Patriots. However, his stint in Minnesota was short-lived, as he was waived by the team less than a month later, and claimed by the Tennessee Titans.

Moss holds the NFL single season touchdown reception record (23, set in 2007), and the NFL single-season touchdown reception record for a rookie (17, in 1998).

Moss grew up in Rand, West Virginia and attended high school at the now defunct DuPont High in Belle, West Virginia, where he lettered in football, basketball, baseball and track. On the football field, Moss led the DuPont Panthers to back-to-back state championships in 1992 and 1993. He was a star at wide receiver, but also played defensive back, returned kickoffs and punts, and was the team's kicker and punter. In 1994, he was honored as the West Virginia Football Player of the Year. Parade Magazine named him to their annual All-American high school football team in 1995 and in 2009 named him one of the 50 greatest high school football players of all time.

In addition to playing football at DuPont, Moss was twice named West Virginia Player of the Year in basketball (1993 & 1994), where he was a teammate of future NBA player Jason Williams. 

osi umenyiora

Ositadimma "Osi" Umenyiora (born November 16, 1981) is an American football defensive end in the National Football League for the New York Giants. Umenyiora is one of three British-born players to have won a Super Bowl ring, joining Scott McCready and Giants teammate Lawrence Tynes. He missed the 2008 season, undergoing surgery for knee cartilage damage suffered during an exhibition against the New York Jets. Umenyiora has been selected for the Pro Bowl twice, and holds the Giants franchise record for most sacks in one game, coming against the Philadelphia Eagles in 2007. 


Umenyiora was born in Golders Green, London to Nigerian parents. His family moved back to Nigeria and later to Auburn, Alabama, where he started playing football in high school. Of Igbo descent, his full first name means in Igbo "from today things will be good"^..



He attended Auburn High School with Dallas Cowboys linebacker Demarcus Ware and Washington Redskins linebacker Marcus Washington.  

Steve Williams

Steve Williams, MNZM (born 29 December 1963) is a New Zealander who has served as caddy for several top professional golfers. He is most famous for being Tiger Woods' caddy from 1999 to mid-2011. Woods was the top-ranked golfer in the world for much of Williams' tenure as caddy

Williams was born in Wellington. He began his career of caddying at his home club at age 6. By age 10, he was frequently caddying 36 holes on weekend days and then practicing his golf game until dark, becoming a two-handicapper by age 13. However, as he reports on his official site, "by the age of thirteen I found myself enjoying caddying more than playing."

He received his first break as a caddy in 1976, when his father arranged for him to carry the bags of Australian great Peter Thomson in the New Zealand Open. Thomson, who finished third, was impressed with the young Williams, who became his regular caddy when he played in New Zealand. The teenaged Williams also traveled to Australia on school breaks to caddy in tournaments there. In 1979, before he turned 16, he left school and moved to Europe to become a caddy on the European Tour.

Williams spent much of the next decade caddying on almost all of the world's major professional tours. He got steady work with several Australian pros, among them Ian Baker-Finch. During this time, he met Greg Norman, and in 1982 became Norman's regular caddy in all his events in Asia and Australia, as well as some European events. In 1988, Williams moved to the United States to become Norman's full-time caddy. However, Norman would fire him in 1989. Williams admitted later that he had gotten too close personally to Norman. Nonetheless, the two remain good friends, and Norman later admitted he had made a mistake and tried to rehire him several years later. Williams would not long stay unemployed, as Raymond Floyd hired him shortly after Norman let him go. He continued to carry Floyd's bag on both the regular and senior U.S. tours until 1999.  

Pittsburgh Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins are a professional ice hockey team based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They are members of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). The franchise was founded in 1967 as one of the first expansion teams during the league's original expansion from six to twelve teams. The Penguins played in the Mellon Arena from the time of their inception through the end of the 2009-10 season. They moved into their new arena, Consol Energy Center, to begin the 2010–11 NHL season. They have qualified for four Stanley Cup Finals, winning 3 Stanley Cups in their history, in 1990–91, 1991–92, and 2008–09.

Before the Penguins, Pittsburgh had been the home of the NHL's Pirates from 1925 to 1930, and the Hornets AHL franchise from the 1930s to 1967. Both the Pirates and Hornets had multiple playoff runs, with the Hornets playing in the final series seven times and winning three championships. In the spring of 1965, Jack McGregor, a state senator from Kittanning, devised a plan to bring an NHL franchise back to Pittsburgh. McGregor's plan involved lobbying some of his campaign contributors (who were avid sports fans) and community leaders. The group focused on leveraging the NHL as an urban renewal tool for Pittsburgh. The senator formed a group of local investors for the Pittsburgh franchise that included H. J. Heinz Company heir H. J. Heinz III, Pittsburgh Steelers owner Art Rooney, and the Mellon family's Richard Mellon Scaife. The 1967 NHL Expansion depended on securing votes from the then-current NHL owners; to ensure that Pittsburgh would be selected for expansion, McGregor enlisted Rooney to petition votes from James D. Norris, owner of the Chicago Black Hawks, and his brother Bruce Norris, owner of the Detroit Red Wings.
