Tar baby

,
The Tar-Baby is a doll made of tar and turpentine used to entrap Br'er Rabbit in the second of the Uncle Remus stories. The more that Br'er Rabbit fights the Tar-Baby, the more entangled he becomes. In modern usage according to Random House, "tar baby" refers to any "sticky situation" that is only aggravated by additional contact.

The expression tar baby is also used occasionally as a derogatory term for black people (in the U.S. it refers to African-Americans; in New Zealand it refers to Maori), or among blacks as a term for a particularly dark-skinned person. As a result, some people suggest avoiding the use of the term in any context.

In one tale, Br'er Fox constructs a doll out of a lump of tar and dresses it with some clothes. When Br'er Rabbit comes along he addresses the tar "baby" amiably, but receives no response. Br'er Rabbit becomes offended by what he perceives as the Tar Baby's lack of manners, punches it, and in doing so becomes stuck. The more Br'er Rabbit punches and kicks the tar "baby" out of rage, the worse he gets stuck. Now that Br'er Rabbit is stuck, Br'er Fox ponders how to dispose of him. The helpless, but cunning, Br'er Rabbit pleads, "but do please, Brer Fox, don't fling me in dat brier-patch," prompting Fox to do exactly that. As rabbits are at home in thickets, the resourceful Br'er Rabbit escapes. Using the phrases "but do please, Brer Fox, don't fling me in dat brier-patch" and "tar baby" to refer to the idea of "a problem that gets worse the more one struggles against it" became part of the wider culture of the United States in the mid-20th century.[citation needed] The story was originally published in Harper's Weekly by Robert Roosevelt; years later Joel Chandler Harris wrote of the tar baby in his Uncle Remus stories. A similar tale from African folklore in West Africa has the trickster Anansi in the role of Br'er Rabbit.

Wii

,
The Wii is Nintendo's fifth video game console which is the successor to the Nintendo GameCube. Its main innovation is the controller (joystick) that responds to its location in three-dimensional physical space that lies in front of the television. In the early stages of development, this console named Revolution.
This console was introduced in the Tokyo Game Show 2005 on September 16, 2005. The console was released in November 2006 in the U.S. and December in Japan and some other areas, and compete with the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Different from the Xbox 360 and PlayStation3, Wii is more focused on fun to play than the high-resolution graphic display such as that possessed both the consoles. Wiimote is a unique new controller (which features a Nunchuk as an extra controller for some kind of game), its small, and low price are the things that the advantages of this console than both rival consoles.
Wii is a new generation of gaming consoles with the release of the cheapest prices compared to its competitors. In Japan, the Wii was launched at a price of JP ¥ 25,000 while in the United States for $ 249.99. Except in Japan, the Wii sold a package with Wii Sports, a sports games (tennis, baseball, bowling, golf, boxing) which is intended to introduce users to the style of Wii game update.
Wii has a longer compatibility (backward compatibility) with some of the old Nintendo and Sega consoles, including NES, TurboGarfx-16, SNES, Genesis, Nintendo 64 and GameCube. Compatibility with the GameCube is achieved by the holding slots for CD measuring 8 cm as used GameCube, while for the other consoles it is obtained through the services of a virtual console (Virtual Console) which is one of the features the Wii. Through the Virtual Console, Wii users can buy and download old games and played directly on the Wii through the Wii Shop channel.

Pottermore Clue

,
pottermore clue

Obviously, they've learned from past releases of clue-games on JKRowling.com and the SecretStreeView site just how quickly the answer to whatever they post will spread like wildfire throughout fandom.  They know that we're going to sit here guessing at and entering any possible answer combination until we hit on the right fit.

Pottermore has a great challenge in order to try to make this fair for everybody. As we had been discussing on this site for weeks, the early entry clues had to be done in such a way that it's not over as soon as it starts, like what happened with SecretStreetView. Fans shared those letters as soon as they found them, figured out how to find the rest, some before they were even released, and turned what was supposed to be a 2-day challenge into a 2-hour frenzy!

We figured that the quill quest challenge must involve some sort of skill on the fans' part and would have to be fair to people across the world with various translations and editions of the text.  As pointed out by Brian in the comment trail, that is why the numbers work so beautifully. Words within the text will not be the same in foreign language editions.  However, numbers are universal (as long as the translations have remained true to the original and listed the exact same number of owl breeds!
