Jonas Bevacqua was a college dropout and a DJ who had moved back into his parents' home when he met up with Robert Wright and created a street clothing company that resonated in Southern California and the nation. According to the Associated Press, Bevacqua and Wright "sketched out some of their earliest fashion ideas in his bedroom." The two went on to found Lifted Resesarch Group (LRG), a popular street clothing brand, in 1999, and the line enjoyed a rapid rise "as a major fashion force."
Jonas Bevacqua, a cofounder of the hip hop and skateboarding brand Lifted Research Group (better known as L-R-G) passed away of causes yet to be determined.
The 34 year-old designer and entrepreneur was found dead in his Laguna Beach home, according to the Orange County Coroner's Office. The cause of death will be determined pending an autopsy scheduled for Wednesday morning.
"Karmaloop and LRG started at the same time. LRG is Karmaloop's largest brand and has been with Karmaloop since 2005," Greg Selkoe, the CEO of Karmaloop told the News. "Jonas and the rest of the LRG staff are like family to Karmaloop and we're all still in shock and deeply saddened by the loss of this tremendously talented and good friend."
